1. Teide from Mirador de Azulejos II
Teide is the most prominent symbol of Tenerife. It is not only the highest mountain in Spain (3718m) but also one of the highest volcanoes in the world, so visiting the main character of the island is a must!
One of my favorite Instagram spots in Tenerife is at Mirador de Azulejos II where a straight road leads to the famous Teide volcano. I recommend arriving early in the morning to avoid big traffic on the road.
Location: Mirador de Azulejos II
2. Los Gigantes cliffs
Los Gigantes cliffs or giants are one of the most spectacular sights in Tenerife and one of the best Instagram spots in Tenerife as well. The cliffs reach even 500 to 800 meters above sea level, so it is a mighty view!
There are many lookouts on Los Gigantes cliffs with amazing photo possibilities in the area including Los Gigantes beach, a viewpoint from Calle el Pino (pictured above), or from Calle Tabaiba street around here where you can park your car at the end of the street and then walk a small dirt path closer to the cliffs.
3. Masca valley and Masca village
Masca village is one of the most special places in Tenerife and one of the most famous Instagram spots as well. The village with only about 90 inhabitants is located in a deep valley between steep cliffs. You can get there by descending a super narrow hairpin-style road.
There is not much to do in the village however you can take a break and visit a restaurant like ‘El Guanche‘ inside the village or drive to the other side of the valley and stop at a restaurant at Mirador La Cruz de Hilda to get some local cuisine combined with a great view over the Masca valley.

4. Mirador de Esperanza viewpoint of Teide
Teide during the sunrise is my favorite sight, but Mirador de Esperanza is the perfect place for both – the sunrise and the sunset.
It is not an official lookout point, however, it is definitely one of my favorite Instagram spots in Tenerife and Teide National Park. There is a beautiful cliff, where you can sit and have a picnic while observing the valley and Teide volcano.
Location: Mirador de Esperanza ยท Parking places
5. Anaga rural park: Camino Viejo al Pico del Inglรฉs
Anaga Rural Park in the North of Tenerife is quite a unique place. Sometimes it really didn’t feel like Tenerife at all. It is green with lots of trees, beautiful hiking routes, and many viewpoints.
If you are an adventure seeker like me, then definitely pay a long visit to this part of the island! Maybe even hike some trails and, of course, visit some famous Instagram spots like this old road – Camino Viejo al Pico del Inglรฉs – that was cut through a cliff with spooky trees covering it.
Location: Camino Viejo al Pico del Inglรฉs
6. Playa de las Teresitas beach
This beautiful beach is one of the most photogenic places with white sand, blue water, and beautiful palm trees growing on the beach. It is one of my favorite beaches in Tenerife and one of the best Instagram spots in Tenerife with many photo opportunities around it.
One of the most famous photo spots is above the beach with an overview of the bay (you can drive there by car and park at the side of the road), but you can also get nice photos at the beach with palm trees. If you happen to be there during the sunrise – even better!
Location: Playa de las Teresitas ยท Viewpoint above the beach
7. Ventana de La Igueque window of Teide
La Ventana de Igueque or ‘the window of Igueque’ is a small stone arch in Teide National Park. It is too small to sit inside it however it makes for a beautiful frame of Teide volcano if you can position yourself further ahead.
It is located next to a hiking trail near Mirador de La Tarta. In order to get there you have to park your car here at the side of the road and follow an easy dirt road that will lead you to the stone arch. It is located about 1 kilometer from the parking spot.
Location: La Ventana de Igueque
8. Arco de Tajao stone arch
This natural arch is one of the most symbolic spots in Tenerife. If you search Tenerife photos on the internet, this arch will definitely pop up. It is definitely one of the most popular Instagram spots in Tenerife. It is quite simple but unique at the same time.
Location: Arco de Tajao
9. ‘Drago Siete Fuentes’ dragon tree
This beautiful and impressive dragon tree is like straight out of a painting. The dragon tree is a natural symbol of Tenerife island, so it makes it the perfect Instagram spot in Tenerife!
There are only a few dragon trees that are so big on the island. One of them is definitely Drago Milenario, however, you have to pay an entrance fee in order to access it.
Drago Siete Fuentes tree is located in an abandoned area in Los Realejos (not far from Puerto de la Cruz) that is accessible to all. You should definitely pay a visit to this tree!

10. Roques de Garcรญa
These beautiful lava monuments called Roques de Garcรญa are one of the busiest places in Teide National Park during the day – tons of tourists visit them even in wintertime. There are hiking trails and climbing places around, plus many campers park here.
There is a huge parking lot next to them and these distinctive lava towers offer you a unique perspective of the Teide volcano. We arrived early in the morning for the sunrise and it turned out pretty majestic.
Location: Roques de Garcรญa
11. Waterfall in Playa de Castro
Now, this might not be entirely natural, but anyway, waterfalls in Tenerife are a rare thing, so this beautiful waterfall is a special place to visit if you happen to be in the area.
There is a steep path down the cliff to this beautiful beach. Once you are on the beach, the waterfall is on your left. I highly recommend coming here during low tide as it might not be accessible at all during high tide.
Location: Playa Castro – Waterfall of Playa Castro
12. Playa de Benijo
Playa Benijo is one of the most remote but definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife. It is a black sand beach with beautiful and sharp rock formations in the ocean near the coast.
People love to come here for the sunset or even take wedding photos, as we saw when visiting this place. If you have the chance – go there!
Location: Playa de Benijo
13. Mirador La Tarta viewpoint on Teide
This is not only one of the most beautiful lookout points on Teide volcano, but also one of the best Instagram spots in Tenerife.
You can come here any time of the day however it will be more unique either during the sunrise or sunset. We came here during the sunset and even got some clouds below us, which makes this place and photo even more magical!
Location: Mirador La Tarta
14. The Yellow beach – Playa Amarilla
Although Tenerife was created by volcanic eruptions, it still has a lot of natural diversity. Have you seen anything like these yellow and orange rock formations in Playa Amarilla?
This beach is definitely one of the most unique beaches in Tenerife. The whole coastline consists of these yellowish and orange rock layers, little coves, holes, and even ‘balconies’ to sit on and sunbathe. You will have to see it to believe it!
Location: Playa Amarilla
15. Lunar landscape or Paisaje Lunar
The lunar landscape is an area of strange light rock pillars. For some it somehow reminded of the Moon, so they named the area after it.
The classic route starts in a town called Vilaflor and a round trip will be 12-13 kilometers with some vertical meters as well.
However, it is possible to drive a gravel road to get closer to it and park your car here in order to cut off a couple of kilometers. There is practically no shade along the route so be ready for some hot sun!
Location: Paisaje Lunar ยท Parking lot in Vilaflor
16. Playa de la Tejita
Playa de la Tejita beach was one of my favorite beaches in Tenerife. It is a wide black sand beach with a red mountain next to it. Although it doesn’t look like that, it is the mountain in the photos above!
However, we went there during the sunrise so we got everything in warm colors. It was very beautiful, to be honest, and it will definitely be beautiful during sunset too. This is one of those must-visit beaches in Tenerife for sure!
Location: Playa de la Tejita
17. Mirador de Chipeque
Mirador de Chipeque is one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Tenerife offering panoramic views of Teide volcano as well as the West Coast’s La Orotava Valley. It is one of the most popular places to visit in Teide National Park.
If you happen to come on a clear day you will be able to see the vast forests of Tenerife, but on a cloudy day, the whole valley will have a dreamy blanket of clouds. This place is especially magical during sunset. A perfect place for photos in Tenerife!
Location: Mirador de Chipeque
18. Roque de las Animas
Roque de las Animas is one of the most emblematic elements in Northern Tenerife. It is located in Taganana town, but the best view of it will be if you go for a hike along the coast.
We did the Taganana-Playa Tamadite hiking route and had many amazing photo spots along the way. It really stands out! You can get a great photo also from the road that goes to Taganana around here.
Location: Roque de las Animas
19. Playa de los Roques
Playa de los Roques in El Toscal (there are two Playa de los Roques beaches, so pay attention!) is definitely a wild beach with big stones and rocks. I would not go for a swim here (well – maybe on a really calm day!).
However, I absolutely love natural arches and that is what you will find on this beach. It is best to try to come here during low tide so that you can get closer to the stone arch.
Location: Playa de los Roques – Access trail to the beach
Happy exploring!
Tenerife is such a gem and there is always something to do there! It really surprised me in a good way with beautiful beaches, unique places, and the most amazing views, and, of course, Teide. Enjoy your travels!
Hi Marta, great spots ! When was the picture taken with you on the road with the Teide behind you? Sunset or sunrise?
Thank you, Miriam! Road photos are at sunrise sometime around October or November when the sky was clear.
