1. Puerto Morelos letters

They do love putting up colorful letters in every city, town, and island here, in Mexico, and Puerto Morelos is not an exception! Those colorful Puerto Morelos letters are a must-visit Instagram spot in Puerto Morelos.

They are indeed located in a beautiful setting – you can even get the morning sun behind them if you wake up early enough because they are facing the Caribbean Sea to the East!

2. Leaning lighthouse of Puerto Morelos

This beautiful leaning lighthouse at the shores of the Caribbean Sea is a symbol of strength and resilience in Puerto Morelos. It is definitely the most iconic place here.

The lighthouse was hit by a hurricane in 1967 that left it tilted. A new lighthouse was built next to it, but this one was left as a symbol of the fishing town.

3. Street art of Puerto Morelos

Another thing people here in Mexico love (besides putting up colorful town names for photo ops) is street art. There are countless murals on the walls, inside restaurants, and on shops visible around the town.

Although Puerto Morelos was not the most colorful town I have seen in the Yucatán Peninsula, they do have beautiful and colorful examples of street art. Photo locations are below.

4. Wooden Puerto Morelos frame

You can find this beautiful Puerto Morelos wooden frame right next to the leaning lighthouse. I think it was meant to frame the lighthouse in the frame, however, it looked too big in our case.

There is a small square right by the beach where you can find some benches to sit on – it was one of my favorite places in the town. You can see the sunrise there as well as the busy fishing life of this small town.

5. Seaside promenade

Puerto Morelos has a short but beautiful seaside promenade lined with palm trees where you can observe all the fishing boats and the chill life of this seaside town.

They also have these beautiful cement benches painted with cool illustrations. This one was near the letters of Puerto Morelos. One of my favorite Instagram spots in Puerto Morelos as it is beautiful in its simplicity.

6. Palm-lined streets

Can you imagine that moment when you arrive at a tropical place, park your car, and start walking along the street that ends at the beach? As you walk further you can see the tropical blue water and palm trees lining both sides of the street.

Don’t you get that warm feeling in your stomach from the palm trees, the white sand, and the blue sea?! I kind of do. This is that perfect tropical Instagram spot in Puerto Morelos. The location of this street is below.

7. Puerto Morelos wooden dock

Puerto Morelos wooden dock is one of the most popular spots to come for locals as well as visitors of Puerto Morelos town. There is a beautiful wooden dock for boats – mostly for those that take tourists on snorkeling tours to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.

The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef is the second-largest reef in the world and is just a few hundred meters off the coast of Puerto Morelos. This is also a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise and take a beautiful photo for your Instagram!

8. Puerto Morelos beaches

Puerto Morelos has long white sand beaches lined with palm trees. There is a small beach right in the center of the town, however, it is busier usually. You can walk North of the center to get to various beach clubs and get some more quiet beaches instead if you wish.

However, I enjoyed the buzz of the center, the fishing boats, the palm trees, and the kids having fun. It is a great spot to take a photo! Even more special if you come here for the sunrise!

9. Mi Pueblo Hokum jungle restaurant

Mi Pueblo Hokum – a jungle-style restaurant in Puerto Morelos was probably my favorite restaurant there. The restaurant is relatively new and looks like a garden with trees and plants everywhere.

It is decorated with wooden gates and roof structures, with benches and garden lights hanging around. That beautiful wooden gate is definitely one of my favorite Instagram spots in Puerto Morelos!

10. Window to the Sea

Right by the Puerto Morelos docks, you will find this huge cement frame called – Window to the Sea. It is a great place to ‘frame’ your memories from your travels and adventures in this seaside town in Riviera Maya. We enjoyed it during one of the sunrises we experienced in Puerto Morelos.

11. Colorful cafés of Puerto Morelos

We visited many cafés and restaurants while staying in Puerto Morelos and I noticed that the majority of them had beautiful artwork either inside the establishments or outside the buildings.

They love to make places beautiful here. For example, El Nicho restaurant had a whole interior full of colorful murals, and there was a beautiful ‘All we need is love’ painting on the wall at Mangata restaurant.

However, I especially enjoyed the deer artwork at Lola and Maya restaurant and the beautiful exterior of the coffee shop Geoholistik.
