Being home to less than 700 people, there is nothing big or wide in the village of Fornalutx. That includes the main square of the village – Plaça d’Espanya.

Although it is one of the smallest main squares you’ll ever see, Plaça d’Espanya serves as the central gathering place for both locals and tourists.

The best way to enjoy the main square is to find a table in one of the outdoor cafes or restaurants and order a cup of coffee to then enjoy it slowly while watching locals engaging in their daily routines.

Located right next to the central square is one of the most prominent historical and architectural landmarks in Fornalutx – the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, known locally as Església de la Nativitat de la Mare de Déu.

The Gothic church is one of the oldest structures in Fornalutx dating back to the 13th century. It has a robust and rustic appearance and was mostly constructed using local stones.
