1. Enjoy the views from the main street in Deià

Deià is worth visiting even if you only have time to stop for a couple of minutes before continuing on your journey around the island. If that’s the case, I recommend heading to Deià viewpoint on the main road Carretera de Deià (location below).
Walking along Carretera de Deià and enjoying the views is actually one of the best things to do in Deià! The picturesque Deià road also offers many photo opportunities as well as a place to stretch your legs during a morning walk or after a good meal.

As you walk along the main road, see the scenic views, smell the orange trees, and feel the rustic charm you’ll quickly understand why so many creatives and famous people come here to feel inspired and enjoy the luxury of privacy.
The likes of Mick Jagger from the Rolling Stones, model Kate Moss, musician David Bowie, and even Gwyneth Paltrow, Harrison Ford, and Princess Diana have spent time in this magical mountain sanctuary. And I get them completely.

2. Enjoy a picturesque breakfast with a view of Deià!

Deià is best enjoyed slowly. You either just stop to take a photo of the village and continue your travels or you make an effort to arrive here in the morning, find a parking spot, and spend time getting to know Deià and soaking up that tranquil atmosphere.
We wanted to feel Deià so we arrived here in the morning. One of the best things to do in Deià in the morning is to choose a picturesque breakfast place and enjoy a slow breakfast with a view.
Some of the best breakfast spots in Deià are Cafè Sa Font Fresca (the best view), S’Hortet (the coziest atmosphere), de moniö (vegan food), and Sa Fonda (for late breakfast or brunch). We chose Cafè Sa Font Fresca for the views!
Cafè Sa Font Fresca has tables on a terrace with the most beautiful views! We opted for coffee with milk, toast, and a local ensaïmada. It was the perfect place to start the day on the right note. So peaceful!
Location: Cafè Sa Font Fresca – S’Hortet – de moniö – Sa Fonda
3. Walk up the most scenic street in Deià

Carrer Ramon Llull is no doubt the most scenic street in Deià. It offers great views of the surrounding area, including the mountains and olive groves surrounding the village of Deia.
Start your hike at the main street going through Deià and continue up along Carrer Ramon Llull. There were many photo-perfect views along the street so keep your eyes open.

The street winds around a hillside until it reaches Sant Joan de Deià Church. Next to the church, you will find a viewpoint offering spectacular views of the tiny village and the mountains. There are some old cannons at the viewpoint to check out.
We stopped for a while to catch our breath after the climb uphill and to take in the views. This was another ideal place to enjoy the peacefulness and tranquility of this little and special town.
Location: Carrer Ramon Llull – Viewpoint
4. Peek inside Sant Joan de Deià Church

As a reward for the climb to the top of Deià hill, you get to visit one of the oldest buildings in Deià – Sant Joan de Deià Church. It dates back to the 14th century and is a landmark place to visit in Deià.
When we visited the church on Monday around midday the side door was open so we got to enter the church and admire its rustic charm and the beautiful gilded altar. The church was built in the Gothic style.
Location: Sant Joan de Deià Church
5. Admire the views from Deià cemetery

Located right in front of the church is a hidden gem and one of the most unique attractions in Deià – the cemetery. The small, tranquil cemetery exudes a peaceful ambiance and timeless charm.
Remember to be respectful when visiting such places!
But why visit a cemetery? Honestly, the main reason is that this cemetery is the best viewpoint in Deià. The hilltop cemetery offers 360-degree views over the village, surrounding mountains as well as the nearby terraces of olive trees.

I felt such serenity walking around there and admiring the panoramic views. It is one of the most beautiful cemeteries I have been to thanks to the backdrop of the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.
It is also the final resting place for the notable British poet and author Robert Graves. You can also visit the House of Robert Graves on the outskirts of Deià which is open to visitors on weekdays year-round.

6. Stop by for lunch with a view at Cafe Deiá

Being one of the most picturesque mountain villages in Mallorca it is only fitting that one of the best things to do in Deiá is to find a great restaurant with a view and enjoy lunch while soaking in the scenic beauty of the little town.
There are a couple of great places to go for lunch in Deiá like Cafe Deiá, Balm Restaurant, and Trattoria Italiana but we opted for Cafe Deiá thanks to its panoramic terrace and good reviews.

We are early lunch people and we can easily eat lunch at 12-13 PM which means we are usually one of the only ones in the restaurant because the majority of people have lunch later in the afternoon when we are already finished.
Cafe Deiá did not disappoint. We had some tasty Spanish tapas to start, a delicious glass of tinto de verano and I got salmon for the main course. All this combined with an amazing view of the mountains made it an unforgettable experience.

7. Peek into local boutique shops

Deià is well-known for its artistic heritage and has long attracted different artists, writers, and musicians to this picturesque and peaceful oasis in the mountains. This is why you will see plenty of boutique shops and artisan stores in Deià.
I highly recommend checking out some local boutique shops. What better way to show support for local artists than by buying some of their crafts? We popped into one of the shops and bought my husband two linen shirts made in Mallorca! Yay!
Clothes, hats, bags, jewelry, and purses are not the only things you can buy from local artists. There is a lovely ceramics store owned by an American expat where you can get handpainted ceramics as a souvenir to take home from Deià.

8. Drive down to Cala de Deià

Cala Deià beach is known for its rocky shores, rugged cliffs, and turquoise waters. It is a great place to spend time at the beach. Because of the very limited space and parking places, you won’t see too many people there making it a more intimate experience.
Cala Deia also hosts one of the most unique restaurants in Mallorca – Ca’s Patró March. It is a well-known seafood restaurant located in a spectacular setting right on the beach overlooking the little cove. We stopped here for a coffee and dessert.
Location: Cala de Deià – Ca’s Patro March
9. Stop by the famous Mirador de sa Foradada

Mirador de sa Foradada viewpoint overlooking the West Coast of Mallorca and a unique seaside cliff with a hole is one of the most popular places in Mallorca. Especially around the sunset hours.
The breathtaking viewpoint is located near Deià village and is easily accessible if you have a rental car. Just in case you decide to wait for the sunset, check out the nearby Foradada Restaurant and ask for a table. Unbeatable views are guaranteed!
Location: Mirador de sa Foradada
10. Celebrate life with fine dining at La Residencia

Nestled on a hillside in two 16th and 17th-century manor houses in the heart of the picturesque village of Deià is La Residencia – a landmark hotel in Deià with both, dramatic mountain views as well as breathtaking views of the Mediterranean.
La Residencia is also home to idyllic gardens filled with olive trees which give the hotel and its restaurants their own olive oil. A long list of celebrities have stayed in this hotel. If there is one place to go to celebrate a special occasion then this is the place.

La Residencia has two scenic restaurants – El Olivio and Restaurante Miró – both of which are a great option. El Olivio is an award-winning restaurant known for its exquisite Mediterranean cuisine and is a pricier option of both.
We happened to be in Mallorca during our wedding anniversary and chose this place to go celebrate. Mind that you need to make a reservation to get a table there. El Olivio was fully booked so we went to Restaurante Miró and it was everything we wanted.
Psst! If you are unable to find a table at La Residencia restaurants then check out other incredible places like Ca Ses Sauerschell’s and Balm Restaurant!
Location: La Residencia – El Olivio – Restaurante Miró
